Out of drawers closets and doors a myriad of shadows are awaiting their coming out.

Be prepared for more cutting edge projections of darkness in light, silhouetting reality.

And then you are lost
Your soul taken from your soles
All chakras neutralized
Herbal tea can help you
If you want
To be sucked
Up

(thinking of Max Headroom saying ‘poetry that’ll work’)

So be aware, there’s some suckers out there.

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.

The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow –
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an india-rubber ball,
And he sometimes goes so little that there’s none of him at all.

He hasn’t got a notion of how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
He stays so close behind me, he’s a coward you can see;
I’d think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me!

One morning, very early, before the sun was up,
I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy-head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.
‘I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me’.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)

Après nous le déluge!

August 21, 2009 by Maurits Burgers

Quouting Madame de Pompadour (1721 – 1764).
Louis XV’s third official mistress since 1745 was a great propagator of the then new style called Rococo and was active in changing France’s foreign policy.
After the Seven Years’ War, with all its disasters, like the loss of New France in Canada to the British and the defeat by the Prussians in the Battle of Rossbach in 1757 Madame de Pompadour is alleged to have comforted the king saying this now famous by-word: “au reste, après nous, le Déluge” (“After us, the Deluge”)
A year later France was bankrupt.
